Job summary

Hotel de la Poste in the heart of New Orleans' French Quarter seeks a friendly server to deliver prompt food service and memorable hospitality.

Under supervision, you greet guests, take orders, refill, process payments, and uphold cleanliness. Must be fluent in English and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

Previous experience is welcome; high school diploma required. Join a team that blends culture, history, and guest service in a historic setting.

Qualifications

• Must have basic knowledge of customer service principles and restaurant operations.
• Must know standard cash-handling procedures.
• Must be fluent in oral and written English.
• Must have vision to read guest checks and operate in a dimly lit restaurant.
• Must have manual coordination to handle trays.

Responsibilities

• Greet and take food and drink orders from restaurant customers and serve orders.
• Remain attentive throughout dining experience, uphold service standards.
• Complete restocking and cleaning duties with opening/closing sidework.
• Memorize menu items and daily specials to answer questions and make recommendations.
• Maintain cleanliness of restaurant, wait station and kitchen service area.
• Receive proper payment and ensure accuracy of guest checks.
• Attend pre-meal and departmental meetings.
• Respond to inquiries with timely, knowledgeable information.
• Present a clean, professional appearance and maintain a friendly demeanor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
