Job summary

Sonesta International Hotels Corporation seeks a Server/Bartender to welcome guests, take orders, and serve beverages with precision in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment. Evening shifts (2PM-9PM or 4PM-11PM) and three shifts per week with opportunities for more are available; experience in high-volume bars is preferred.

Ideal candidates hold food handlers and TIPS certificates, a high school diploma or GED, and fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Greet, welcome, and interact with guests in a warm and friendly manner.
• Take orders, prepare drinks according to recipes and serve all food and beverage requests in the bar.
• Demonstrate complete knowledge of the food and beverage menu.
• Prepare the bar for service by ensuring bar supplies, garnishes, utensils are properly set up in accordance with quality standards.
• Inventory unused liquor and beverages.
• Ensure that all liquor is properly secured before, during, and at close of shift.
• Adhere to all cash handling and credit card policies and procedures.
• Ensure that all drink orders from servers are accurately rung into the POS system.
• Clean and reset bartop and tables immediately after guests depart.
• Complete all closing duties and reports as assigned.
• Secure all liquors, beers, wines, coolers, cabinets and storage areas.
• Adhere to established safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Adhere to uniform and grooming standards.
• Perform other duties or projects as requested by management.

What this role is all about

The Server/Bartender sets the tone for Sonesta’s mission of “Wowing” our guests with Amazing Moments. The role’s primary responsibility is to welcome guests, take orders, prepare and serve food and beverages items to guests in a friendly, courteous and timely manner in accordance with quality standards. The Bartender must maintain supplies and follow established cleanliness and sanitation guidelines. The ideal candidate has a passion for hospitality and providing exceptional guest service. Must have open availability to work evening shifts (2PM-9PM or 4PM-11PM) on , Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Required to work 3 shifts per week with an opportunity to pick up more. Flexibility and open availability is a plus!

What you’ll be doing

Work Environment Must be able work in a fast-paced environment. Majority of work takes place indoors. Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures - i.e. kitchens, freezers. Physical Demands Must be able work in a fast-paced environment. Majority of work takes place indoors. Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures - i.e. freezers, loading dock. Expected Hours of Work Must be flexible to work variable days of the week to include weekends and holidays. Ten to twelve hour shifts sometimes required.

Education and Experience Experience as a Server/Bartender required, preferably in a high-volume bar. Experience with computerized cash registers preferred. High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.

Anticipated Pay Range & Additional Job Information Pay Rate: $21.30 per hour plus tips. Base pay offered is reflective of minimum wage requirement.
