Job summary

Kiawah Island Golf Resort is seeking a Server Assistant to help prepare the dining room and back of the house for service. You will welcome guests, assist servers, and ensure guest satisfaction through attentive service.

The role requires teamwork, strong English communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced resort environment. Responsibilities include maintaining menu knowledge, assisting with delivering food, and upholding the resort’s cleanliness and safety standards.

Position Summary:

Under supervision of the Restaurant Manager, the Server Assistant works to prepare dining room and back of the house area for service. Server Assistants are expected to welcome guests and attend to their every need, as well as assist the server with various needs. Server Assistants must be positive, a team player, and passionate about serving guests.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 18 years of age to serve alcohol.
• Must be willing to learn and be fast on their feet.
• Must be punctual.
• Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Must possess good to excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• All areas are kept clean and immaculate.
• Welcome guests and attend to their every need while assisting the server with various needs.
• Product knowledge is essential and must know all aspects of the menu and beverage offerings.
• Assist in monitoring the guests' needs and in all phases of the operation.
• Responsible for resetting tables, clearing tables, running food, changing the room over, and proper maintenance of tables and storage areas both in the front and back of the house.
• Maintain complete knowledge of scheduled daily activities and in-house groups, daily house count, hours of operation of each outlet.
• Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, specials, 86'd items, liquor brands beers and non-alcoholic selections available in the restaurant.
• Maintain complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, proper table set-ups, room capacity, hours of operation, price range and dress code of the restaurant.
• Must possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as be extremely thorough.
• Responsible for daily prep work, table maintenance, assisting with teammates needs, and creating an environment of teamwork and learning to be better.
• Must possess the ability to adapt in an ever-changing and fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to maintain a professional demeanor with guests and teammates at all times.
• Upholds the core values and policies & procedures of the resort.
• All other duties as assigned.

Essential Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift minimum weight of 35 lbs. across short-medium distances.
• Must be able to stand for the entirety of shift while reaching, bending and stooping as needed.
• Must be able to work on site due to daily needs of the job requirements.
• Must be able to lift and carry trays / ovals.
• Must be able to work in a fast paced, intense work environment, sometimes under extreme heat and stress, and must be able to remain calm.
