IN-ROOM DINING SERVER /SERVER ASSISTANT - PART TIME Reports to Director of Food + Beverage: position is non-exempt WHO WE ARE Hotels done differently. The Hewing occupies the historic Jackson Building, originally built in 1897, at the gateway to the Warehouse District, immediately tying it to local culture like no other competitor. WHO YOU ARE Your past experiences have led you to understand that there is an art + science to the how and what for which a hospitality professional is responsible. Food + Beverage culture is a part of your identity, as you keep up on new restaurant openings or which restaurants were just named the locals' favorite. Food culture interests you and you love when, as the curator of an experience, you nail it. It is in your nature to take care of others. You delight in the smiles you share and the positive experiences that you create. You are probably known to your friends and family as a planner and enjoy organizing people or just about anything. You feel comfortable when things get busy, and you must make smart, in-the-moment decisions, as it's just natural for you to do so. Above all, it is your mission to spread joy to all you encounter. THE ROLE The In-Room Dining Server/Server Assistant reports to Food + Beverage Leadership and works in a team environment with other Food + Beverage professionals, including bartenders, servers, dishwashers, cooks, and chefs. It is critical the person in this position possesses a background and knowledge in basic service techniques and has a natural ability to manage time. The In-Room Dining Server/Server Assistant is responsible for creating memorable guest experiences in a small window of time. An in-depth menu knowledge is necessary to ensure safe service to guests with allergies and restrictions. The In-Room Dining Server/Server Assistant will be responsible for the timely and friendly delivery of food and drinks. Ongoing beverage tasting and trainings will assist the In-Room Dining Server/Server Assistant in expanding your knowledge of beer, wine and spirits. The In-Room Dining Server/Server Assistant will also be responsible for supporting the service staff to create memorable guest experiences. This support may look like clearing plates, watering tables, spieling food and assisting with side work. All our service team members are expected to be reliable and responsible. The In-Room Dining Server/Server Assistant will arrive changed, polished and mentally ready to work on time. We put an emphasis on treating each other just like we treat our guests, sharing a smile, a helping hand, and a willingness to jump in to assist in any situation. The In-Room Dining Server/Server Assistant will also actively develop trusting and transparent relationships with their peers on the service team and other associates of the hotel.
