Your Role

We are seeking a dedicated and highly motivated Server Assistant to join our team at Charlie Gitto’s on the Hill. As a Server Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional service to our guests and helping servers ensure a smooth dining experience. The ideal candidate should have a passion for hospitality, possess excellent communication skills, and be a team player that works well in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

1. Table Preparation: Set up and maintain the cleanliness and appearance of tables, ensuring they are properly set with utensils, glassware, and other necessary items according to the restaurant's standards.
2. Clearing and Resetting Tables: Clear tables promptly and efficiently, removing used dishes, glassware, and cutlery while ensuring minimal disruption to guests. Reset tables swiftly with clean tableware for the next seating.
3. Assistance to Servers: Support the waitstaff by delivering beverages, bread, and other requested items to tables, ensuring timely and accurate service. Assist with carrying trays, as needed.
4. Beverage Service: Refill water glasses and other non-alcoholic beverages as required, ensuring guests' needs are met in a timely manner. Assist with beverage preparation and garnishing.
5. Maintaining Restaurant Cleanliness: Continuously monitor and maintain the cleanliness and organization of dining areas, including the bar and server stations. Regularly sweep and mop floors, clean spills, and ensure a tidy appearance.
6. Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with the entire restaurant team to ensure smooth service flow, address guest requests promptly, and assist other staff members when needed.
7. Guest Relations: Handle guest inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints in a courteous and efficient manner.
8. Follow Health and Safety Regulations: Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling of glassware, utensils, and other service items, as well as following hygiene and cleanliness protocols.

What You'll Need

1. Previous Experience: Prior experience as a server assistant, busser, or in a similar support role within a fine dining establishment is preferred.
2. Knowledge of Fine Dining Service: Familiarity with fine dining etiquette, including table settings, tableside service, and beverage service is advantageous.
3. Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication and listening skills to effectively interact with guests and colleagues.
4. Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, and carry heavy trays for extended periods in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs.
5. Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure tables are properly set, cleared, and reset according to restaurant standards.
6. Team Player: Eager to learn and ability to work well within a team, supporting colleagues and collaborating effectively to deliver exceptional service.
7. Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as per the restaurant's scheduling requirements.
8. Food Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with food safety regulations and practices, including proper handling of food, utensils, and cleaning procedures.
