Job Description:
Server assistants must move quickly and efficiently, maintaining constant communication with the server regarding the status of each table. The server assistant’s role is to support the server by ensuring that every guest’s needs and special requests are met. They are the backbone of the service team, responsible for the basics of service, from water service to resetting tables.
Requirements:
- Excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Ability to maintain tact and composure under pressure
- Flexibility to work hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to take initiative and adapt to changing circumstances
- Knowledge of departmental policies, service procedures, and standards
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly
- Proper maintenance and use of equipment knowledge
- Knowledge of hotel services, features, and local attractions to assist guests effectively
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with guests and team members
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Effective communication skills in English, both written and oral
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a professional attitude and courteous demeanor at all times
- Keep service stations clean and perform side work duties as assigned
- Follow proper service procedures
- Coordinate with team members and front door staff
- Assist with table maintenance discreetly during dining
- Use non-verbal cues to gauge guest satisfaction
- Practice full hands in, full hands out
- Support teammates during service
- Reset tables within two minutes of guest departure
- Bus courses according to standards
- Complete tasks as directed by management, supporting team and restaurant needs
Work Conditions:
- Work environment is usually loud
- Regularly required to stand, handle objects, reach, talk, hear, and taste/smell
- Frequent walking required
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 2 years’ experience in high-volume, upscale dining
- At least 1 year of hospitality sales and management experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
