Position Summary

Servers / Waiters / Waitresses are responsible for serving alcohol and must be 18 years or older. They will be required to complete R.A.M.P. certification within the first 90 days of employment.

Servers / Waiters / Waitresses coordinate their entire station and communicate with dining room and deli personnel to provide a dining experience that meets or exceeds guest expectations. They follow all mandatory suggestive selling techniques and process guests’ orders to ensure that all items are prepared properly and in a timely manner. They observe diners to ensure guests are satisfied with food and service, respond to additional requests, and determine when the meal has been completed. They present the bill, handle payments accurately, make change, and track all payment methods, including coupons and discounts. They maintain a clean and organized station, complete daily and weekly cleaning, and restock as needed.

Major Responsibilities
  • Treat all guests in a manner that ensures their complete satisfaction and always strive to exceed their expectations.
  • Pass all required Server Floor and Secret Shopper evaluations.
  • Demonstrate a complete understanding of the menu; pass the menu test with 75% or better and accurately explain the menu to customers.
  • Know table numbers and sections to ensure proper communication between Host/Hostesses, Servers, and Deli.
  • Obtain assigned service station from Manager on Duty/Head Server/Floor Manager at the start of the shift.
  • Promptly greet guests, provide name, inform them of soups, specials, and specific menu items, and make suggestions per Isaac’s standards; accurately answer questions regarding food, beverages, and service.
  • Takes food and beverage orders from guests and properly processes orders to ensure all items are prepared correctly and on time.
  • Promptly serve food and beverage items.
  • Check back with tables periodically throughout service to ensure customer satisfaction, ask specific product questions, and determine when the meal has been completed; handle customer complaints professionally and appropriately.
  • Present dessert menu and make a specific dessert recommendation.
  • Present bill, accurately handle guest check payment and cash transactions, prepare vouchers for credit and gift card purchases, and track all payment methods, including coupons and discounts.
  • Thank all customers and invite them to return.
  • Maintain all time guidelines for service as established by management.
  • Stock and re‑stock work stations, keeping them clean and organized; remove soiled dishes and silverware when the guest is finished; clean, sanitize, and reset tables after guests leave.
  • Inform Manager on Duty of inventory supply needs daily and as needed.
  • Check to ensure food displays are merchandised attractively per Isaac’s standards.
  • Maintain appropriate portion control and merchandising standards when serving hot or cold items.
  • Maintain proper food handling, safety, and sanitation standards while serving food and clean‑up according to predetermined procedures.
  • Clean up spills in dining room and service areas immediately.
  • Assist with dishes and take care of customers at the host stand as needed.
  • Assist with answering the phone and accurately handle take‑out orders according to proper procedures.
  • Assist with trash removal (and recycling bins where appropriate) and replace with new bags.
  • Assist with daily and weekly side jobs throughout the restaurant.
  • Assist with tasks throughout the restaurant as needed and requested by Manager on Duty.
  • Actively participate in food and labor cost control.
  • Maintain professional appearance at all times, clean and well‑groomed, per Isaac’s standards.
  • Abide by all policies, procedures, and dress requirements established by Isaac’s.
  • Abide by all alcohol service and handling policies and procedures established by Isaac’s.
  • Follow all liquor laws, regulations, and R.A.M.P. guidelines and recommendations.
Job Specifications
Education

Some high school education. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) of the work location, and be able to speak and understand the primary languages of the guests who typically visit the location. Must be able to perform simple mathematical calculations.

Experience

No previous foodservice experience is required, though it is helpful. Must possess good communication skills, be able to work with others, and be sensitive to customer needs.
