Summary:This position plays a major role in a member's dinner and/or bar experience. Consistency is a key element in a positive experience, which is achieved by always following recipes. A server must be friendly, outgoing and possess good communication skills. A server should be organized and able to think and act quickly and effectively while retaining self-composure.Job Description• Welcome each guest personally within 30 seconds.• Communicate with guests using clear and enthusiastic words, tone and body language at all times. Make members feel appreciated through server’s actions.• Work as a team with all Quivira Inc's personnel to maintain an effective atmosphere and an efficient food and beverage service.• Be knowledgeable about the menu, know what questions to ask and how to upsell.• Work with others to keep all areas cleaned and stocked to Quivira Inc's standards at all times.• Ring food orders into computer immediately, collect money from guests for food served and make change.• Be attentive! Offer assistance before the guest has to ask for it.• Anticipate your guest's needs. Follow the half-full rule when offering another drink. Be alert of guest signals (raising a hand, making eye contact, etc.), and acknowledge the guest to let them know the server will be right with them.• Learn guests' names, occupations and favorite drinks. This will make Lake Quivira a special place for them.• Perform other duties as directed.Qualifications, Education, and Preferred Skills• High school diploma or GED.• Prior experience working in a restaurant.• Prior experience as a server.• Must be eligible to work in the United States.Physical Demands and Environment• Walk and stand during entire shift.• Continuously reach, bend, lift, carry, stoop and wipe.• Remain stationary for long periods of time.• Frequently wash hands.• Be able to lift up to 35 lbs.• Be able to hear and talk.• Good close and distance vision and ability to adjust focus between the two.• This position operates in a restaurant setting. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The employee may be exposed to hazards including, but are not limited to, cuts, slipping, tripping, falls and burns. Frequent hand washing is required.• Varied and flexible shifts/days, likely to include nights, weekends, holidays and occasional overtime.• Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the club from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Team members with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
