Server - Big Chill Beach Club
Summary of Position: Serve tables with killer 360° views of the Atlantic Ocean and Rehoboth Bay at Big Chill Beach Club, Bethany Beach’s premier oceanfront restaurant located in the Delaware Seashore State Park. As a server, you will be a cocktail, beer, and food expert performing a live show daily, creating an enjoyable and relaxed dining experience for all guests.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide a tour of menus (food and drink) and highlight features with specific suggestions.
- Answer questions and take orders accurately; avoid being a simple order taker.
- Be a storyteller and guide customers with recommendations.
- Be aware of guests’ special needs, requests, and desires.
- Share guests’ requests, needs, likes, and dislikes with the team and management.
- Recognize regular guests by name.
- Welcome and greet guests, smile, make eye contact, and make them feel comfortable.
- Know everything about our craft beers, signature drinks, and food items.
- Enter orders quickly and accurately in the point-of-sale system.
- Deliver food and beverages from kitchen and bar to guests in a timely manner.
- Be interesting, be yourself, and have fun.
- Monitor and observe guests’ dining experience, ensuring satisfaction and promptly responding to requests.
- Maintain a clean table and environment, clear and reset dirty tables when appropriate.
- Always sell dessert.
- Promote the restaurant and inform guests about upcoming BCBC events.
- Prepare the final bill, present a check, accept payment, and process credit cards or give change accurately.
- Provide appropriate farewells to all guests.
- Be the hardest‑working member of the team.
- Perform more side work at the start and end of each shift.
- Be available to fill in as needed to ensure smooth operation, as directed by the manager or supervisor.
- Enjoy the ride, be a team player, and act as a brand ambassador for Big Chill Beach Club.
Qualifications
- At least 1 year of relevant experience, preferably in a fast‑paced restaurant.
- Outgoing, upbeat, friendly personality.
- At least 18 years old, preferably over 21.
- Current ABC Card.
- Advanced knowledge of beer, wine, liquor, and common drink recipes.
- Basic math skills; ability to handle money and operate a cash register.
- Ability to work in an active environment, standing, walking, and going up and down stairs for up to 6 hours.
- Capable of lifting and reaching up to 40 pounds, bending, stooping, and stooping as needed.
- Reliable transportation.
- Eligible to work in the United States.
- Flexible schedule to assume responsibilities as needed and balance personal and professional life.
