An established industry player is looking for a dedicated Sergeant to oversee the safety and security of a correctional facility. We are seeking a diligent Sergeant who will perform supervisory and administrative work primarily concerned with the care, custody and control of all inmates and the safe and secure operation of the facility. A Sergeant also maintains safety and security within the facility for all staff, visitors, and inmates. You will be responsible for supervising assigned correctional staff and ensuring the safe and humane living conditions for inmates as well as staff.
A candidate for this position must be a high school graduate or equivalent. The incumbent should have a minimum of 3 years of correctional experience. An Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice could substitute for one year of experience.
A candidate for this position must have knowledge of the principles of correctional institution management, knowledge of criminal codes, knowledge of Department policies and procedures, have the ability to use computers, manage difficult people, stress and be able to communicate effectively. A candidate should possess a valid driver’s license, certification as a Corrections Officer, CPR/AED, first aid and defensive tactics. Must be able to develop and maintain effective listening and observation skills. A candidate for this position must also pass a written and physical examination, pass a drug screen, not have a prior criminal record, and meet the physical and mental capacity requirements established for this class of position by the NH Retirement System.
