Job summary

AMD in San Jose is seeking a versatile SerDes Engineer to drive applications, firmware, and validation of next-generation high-speed SerDes IP across electrical and optical domains. You will bridge SerDes IP design teams with SoC/system integrators, develop low-level firmware, and architect test and validation solutions from silicon to production.

This role partners with multiple AMD groups to drive best practices.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, CS, or equivalent.
• Experience with high-speed SerDes firmware development.
• Knowledge of PCIe, IEEE 802.3 Ethernet, and OIF standards.
• Experience with lab instruments (scopes, BERT, VNA).
• Strong collaboration across hardware, firmware, and optical teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead first-silicon bring-up of SerDes PHYs for PCIe/Ethernet.
• Drive PCIe/Ethernet compliance and interop testing with automation.
• Develop embedded firmware for high-speed SerDes systems.
• Validate SerDes PHY functionality per design targets and standards.
• Collaborate with multiple teams to address issues and drive improvements.
• Develop test automation and demo tooling.
