Job summary

VCU Health seeks a Sepsis Coordinator to lead development, evaluation and implementation of sepsis care, ensuring adherence to early goal-directed therapy bundles in collaboration with the healthcare team.

The role coordinates care across the continuum, builds multidisciplinary relationships, leads a Sepsis Committee for adult inpatient and ED services, and guides EHR improvements and quality reporting. Bachelor’s in Nursing is required; Master’s preferred; Virginia RN license or eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.
• Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
• RN licensure in Virginia or eligible compact state required.
• 5+ years of clinical nursing with ICU or ED experience.
• 3+ years of clinical unit leadership/management experience.

Responsibilities

• Represent sepsis care internally and externally by developing relationships with frontline team members, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
• Drive change through influence and consensus building to promote quality outcomes.
• Build trust with colleagues and multidisciplinary teams caring for septic patients.
• Translate clinical knowledge and guidelines into clinical practice.
• Establish and lead a Sepsis Committee for adult inpatient and ED services and collaborate with Sepsis Coordinators at other VCU Health entities.
• Serve as Project Manager for improvement projects and ensure best practices are implemented with Sepsis Clinical leaders.
• Develop collaborative relationships and workflows with the ED sepsis response team and Inpatient Rapid Response Team.
• Act as Subject Matter Expert and lead improvements to EHR to support workflows and reporting.
• Establish and maintain guidelines, protocols, and SharePoint management; publicize Sepsis Awareness Month events.
