Job description

The Sepsis Coordinator plays a vital role in the continued development, evaluation and implementation of sepsis treatment. The Sepsis Coordinator ensures adherence to the early goal-directed therapy bundle elements (as developed by the Surviving Sepsis Campaign) in collaboration with the healthcare team. The role also assists in hospital utilization and resource management, coordinates care through the continuum, performs case review, and monitors and reports quality outcomes. The Sepsis Coordinator works in collaboration with all hospital staff to support the multidisciplinary care of the septic patient.**Essential Job Statements*** Represent sepsis care internally and externally by working to develop relationships with front-line team members, internal stakeholders, and external partners.* Drive change through influence and consensus building to promote quality outcomes.* Build trust with colleagues and members of the multidisciplinary team that cares for potentially septic patients.* Translate clinical knowledge, experience, and evidence-based research/guidelines into clinical practice.* Establish and lead a Sepsis Committee for adult inpatient and ED services and collaborate efforts to ensure alignment, as appropriate, with Sepsis Coordinators at other VCU Health entities.* Serve as Project Manager/Process Owner for improvement projects identified and ensure best practices and workflows are implemented.
