OpenAI's Forward Deployed Engineering team partners with customers to turn research breakthroughs into production systems. Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) own discovery, technical scoping, system design, build, and production rollout in close collaboration with customer teams.

Based in Seoul with a hybrid model (3 days in the office) and relocation assistance, this role involves leading multi‑deployment delivery, writing production‑grade Python code, and coordinating with Research, Product,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering or technical deployment experience with customer-facing work.
• Experience scoped and delivered complex systems in fast-moving or ambiguous environments.
• Production-grade code experience across frontend and backend; Python is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own discovery, technical scoping, system design, build, and production rollout for deployments.
• Collaborate with customer engineering and domain teams to ensure adoption and measurable impact.
• Codify patterns and contribute code when needed to unblock delivery.
