Job summary

OpenAI is seeking Forward Deployed Engineers to lead deployments of frontier models with government customers. You will embed with clients to design, build, and ship full-stack solutions that deliver measurable mission impact.

The role requires working with defense, intelligence, and federal stakeholders, and frequent travel for on-site engagements. You will prototype and deliver systems across infrastructure and applications, using Python, JavaScript, and cloud platforms, while sharing patterns

Qualifications

5+ years engineering or technical deployment experience.
Active TS/SCI clearance or equivalent.
Experience delivering complex systems in fast-moving or ambiguous environments.
Proficient in production-grade code across frontend and backend (Python/JavaScript).
Familiar with cloud deployments (Azure/AWS), Kubernetes, Terraform.

Responsibilities

Own technical delivery across multiple government deployments, from prototype to production.
Embed with public sector customers to design and build applications powered by OpenAI models.
Deliver observable systems spanning infrastructure to applications.
Prototype and build full-stack systems using Python, JavaScript, or comparable stacks.
Guide customers to maximize business and operational value of their applications.
