Job summary

Northrop Grumman is hiring a Technical Services Engineer/Principal Engineer to develop and implement training systems for the United States Air Force under the Sentinel Program. Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Conduct gap analyses to identify learning needs and translate into training tasks.

• Stay current with learning theory and tools to inform design decisions.

Northrop Grumman is seeking to hire a Technical Services Engineer/Principal Engineer. This position is located in Roy, Utahand supports the Sentinel Program.

This role may offer a competitive relocation package.

What You'll Get to Do:
This individual will be responsible for working within a team to do all the phases of the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation (ADDIE) model for a new training system supporting the United States Air Force. The individual will need to collaborate with multiple subject matter experts (SMEs) to create a training system for multiple Air Force Specialty Codes, collaborating with multiple teams throughout a dynamic program to identify current and future training knowledge and skill gaps.

The selected candidate will have demonstrated experience applying analysis processes, adult learning theories and instructional strategies, technical expertise creating SCORM compliant courseware and implementing Kirkpatrick’s 4 levels of evaluation to include, formative, summative, and operational evaluation processes.

Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Conduct gap analyses of knowledge and skill levels and translate the findings into targeted training tasks and effective learning solutions.
• Design and develop training products for multiple modalities, including online, in-person, hybrid, as well as synchronous and asynchronous formats.
• Develop a comprehensive suite of training materials—including instructor-led sessions, microlearning modules, interactive online courses, and on-the-job qualification/certification programs—under direct supervision.
• Write technical and creative documentation, including the creation of training CDRLs.
• Stay current with training-and-development research—learning theory, emerging software tools, and industry standards—and apply insights to design decisions.
• Evaluate and, when needed, oversee contractors or vendors responsible for developing training courseware.
• Design curricula that conform to current SCORM standards.

Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either the Technical Services Engineer level (Level 2) or Technical Services Principal Engineer level (Level 3).

Engineer - Technical Services (Level 2)

• Bachelors Degree in Instructional Systems Design, Instructional Technology, Human Performance, Training and Learning Development, Psychology, Marketing, or related field and 2 years of experience, 0 years of experience with a Master's Degree. An additional 4 years of experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.

Sr. Principal Engineer - Technical Services (Level 3)

• Bachelors Degree in Instructional Systems Design, Instructional Technology, Human Performance, Training and Learning Development, Psychology, Marketing, or related field and 5 years of experience, 3 years of experience with a Master's Degree, and 1 year with PhD. An additional 4 years of experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.

Required for Both Levels:

• Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
• Must have a current or ability to obtain and maintain a Special Access Program (SAP) approvalwithin a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
• Experience designing learning materials for technical disciplines
• Experience developing learning materials for technical disciplines
• Experience developing technology-based learning products
• Experience creating formative and summative evaluations for technical disciplines
• Experience in conducting training evaluations in accordance with Kirkpatrick 4 levels of evaluation and Phillips 5 levels of evaluation
• Experience working in ADDIE and other training development models for technical disciplines
• Experience applying adult learning theories and process-driven instructional design principles
• Ability to travel 10% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of human performance processes to breakdown knowledge and skill gaps to identify appropriate learning solutions
• Experience with digital instructional design software (e.g., Camtasia, Storyline, Adobe Captivate/Creative Suite)
• Multimedia design experience (audio/video editing, 2D/3D design, animation, software simulation, etc.)
• Experience using multiple instructional development software tools
• Experience in conducting training evaluations in accordance with Kirkpatrick 4 levels of evaluation and Phillips 5 levels of evaluation

This position's standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $72,100.00 - $108,100.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
