Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems in Roy, Utah, is seeking a Principal or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to support the development of complex defense systems.

The role involves requirements development, architecture definition, and MBSE modeling using Cameo, Rhapsody, or MagicDRAW, with collaboration across IPTs and stakeholders. We value candidates with DoD Secret clearance, readiness for Top Secret/SAP, and experience in C2, cybersecurity, NC3, or related domains.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM; 5+ years of experience (3+ with master's) as specified.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance at time of application with within-scope investigation within last 6 years.
  • Ability to obtain Top Secret and SAP clearance.
  • Experience with requirements management/analysis/allocations.
  • Experience with MBSE tools (Cameo, Rhapsody, MagicDRAW).
  • Experience with C2, physical security, cybersecurity, NC3 or related systems.

What You Will Get To Do

The selected engineer will join the team supporting activities including use case development, requirements definition / allocation, functional decomposition, interface definition, verification & validation, and requirements traceability.

Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:

Basic Qualifications
Principal Systems Engineer:
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM and 5 years of experience, 3 years of experience with master’s degree, 0 years of experience with PhD.
  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Must have the ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) within a reasonable period as determined by the business needs of the company.
  • 1 year of experience with requirements management/analysis/allocations
  • 1 year of experience with Model-Based Engineering / Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBE/MBSE) practices, languages and/or tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody or MagicDRAW
  • 1 year of experience with one or more of the following: Command & Control (C2), physical security, cybersecurity, Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) systems/processes, communications systems, facility design, military aerospace development (e.g. Sentinel, Minute Man III, B-2, B-21 delivery systems)
Sr. Principal Systems Engineer
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM and 8 years of experience, 6 years of experience with master’s degree, 4 years of experience with PhD.
  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Must have current Special Access Program (SAP) approval at time of hire.
  • 2 years of experience with requirements management/analysis/allocations
  • 2 years of experience with Model-Based Engineering / Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBE/MBSE) practices, languages and/or tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody or MagicDRAW
  • 2 years of experience with one or more of the following: Command & Control (C2), physical security, cybersecurity, Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) systems/processes, communications systems, facility design, military aerospace development (e.g. Sentinel, Minute Man III, B-2, B-21 delivery systems)
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 year of experience developing or reviewing requirements within DOORS or similar tool
  • Self-driven, able to tackle challenges, solve problems with minimal oversight and make recommendations for solutions/process improvement to leadership
  • 1 year of experience in team environments with leadership responsibilities
  • 1 year of experience creating, updating, and maintaining system performance documentation
  • Self-driven, able to tackle challenges, solve problems with minimal oversight and make recommendations for solutions/process improvement to leadership
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

This position's standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
