Job Overview
Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Systems Engineering Targeting Manager 2 for the Sentinel Program, located at the SDS headquarters in Roy, UT.
Relocation assistance may be available. Clearance required: Yes (Secret). Travel: Yes, approximately 10% of the time.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Horizontal Integration and Targeting (HIT‑TGT) Section within the SDS Systems Engineering organization, reporting directly to the Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) Department Manager.
- Provide career mentorship and operational support to a Functional Home Room (FHR) team of 8‑12 individual contributors.
- Manage personnel performance, conduct pay conversations, train team members, and staff roles on projects.
- Devote approximately 20% of effort to FHR responsibilities and 80% to technical assignments on the Aerospace Vehicle Equipment (AVE) MS&A team.
- Execute trajectory simulation tools in 3‑ and 6‑degree of freedom, analyze results, develop missile‑targeting software algorithms, and implement numerical methods.
- Support vehicle performance and flight assessment, including payload‑to‑range, post‑boost maneuverability, weapon system effectiveness, accuracy, vehicle environment characterization, and flight‑test predictions.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Science in a STEM field and at least 8 years of related experience, or at least 6 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Active U.S. Government Secret clearance at time of application with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval.
- Experience in modeling, simulation, and analysis of aerospace vehicles through professional work or education.
- Experience with 6‑degree‑of‑freedom trajectory simulation tools.
