Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Systems Engineer to support MBSE efforts in Utah, focusing on requirements development, system modeling, and milestone readiness. You will collaborate with engineering teams and contribute to trade studies and verification planning.

Qualified candidates have a STEM degree, DoD Secret Clearance, and experience with DOORS, SysML or UPDM modeling frameworks, and architecture modeling tools. Relocation may be available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM and 2 years of experience (0 years with master's).
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance with investigation date within last 6 years.
  • Experience with requirements in DOORS or similar tool.
  • Experience in ICBM (MMIII or Sentinel) OR complex aerospace/defense systems.
  • Experience in team environments with leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience creating, updating, and maintaining system performance documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), develop requirements and multiple system models.
  • Coordinate with System Engineering and Command & Launch Segment teams.
  • Support system, segment, element and unit level trade studies.
  • Define high-level functional and performance requirements and verification methods, derive lower-level requirements and allocate them to elements.
  • Help create and present technical charts showing maturation for milestones.
  • Identify required contractual and non-contractual deliverables and drive closure updates.
  • Coordinate with diverse engineering teams to manage the technical baseline.

What you will get to do
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), development of requirements and multiple system engineering models
  • Coordination & collaboration with the System Engineering and Command & Launch Segment System Engineering Teams
  • Supporting system, segment, element and unit level trade studies
  • Definition of high-level functional and performance requirements and verification methods, subsequent analysis, decomposition, and derivation of requirements, allocation of those lower-level requirements to physical and functional architectural elements, and tracking them through design, verification, integration, and operational validation
  • Supporting a team of engineers to create, mature and present comprehensive and cohesive technical charts representative of the appropriate level of maturation for any given milestone meeting and demonstrating team readiness in relation to achieving the milestone entrance and exit criteria
  • Identifying required contractual deliverables and non-contractual documentation and driving corresponding updates to closure
  • Coordinating and collaborating with diverse engineering design teams to assist in managing the technical baseline
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 2 years of experience; 0 years with master’s degree.
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Must be able to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs
  • 1+ year of experience developing or reviewing requirements within DOORS or similar tool
  • 1+ year of experience in ICBM (MMIII or Sentinel) OR complex aerospace/defense systems
  • 1+ year of experience in team environments with leadership responsibilities
  • 1+ year of experience creating, updating, and maintaining system performance documentation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of the Systems Engineering V-Model
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS
  • Experience in SysML or UPDM modeling languages
  • Proficiency with the DoDAF, UAF, or other modeling frameworks
  • Experience modeling with Cameo Enterprise Architecture, MagicDraw (No Magic, Inc.) or other architecture modeling tools
  • Experience using tools to model large systems with multiple developers
  • Experience in Software and/or Hardware design
  • Experience in documenting Interface Control Documents, Interface Requirement Specifications, and Interface Description Documents
  • Experience in the military aerospace development environment
  • Experience with weapon systems
  • Experience exporting documentation out of a model-based environment
  • Experience with Agile Development
  • Experience with ICBM weapon system sustainment engineering and integration
  • Experience with complex system development on large programs

This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Salary & Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $131,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
