Job Overview

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Software Engineering Manager 2 in Bellevue, NE.

Responsibilities

• Assess staffing needs and work with team leads to address them (20%).
• Support recruitment activities including creating requisitions, conducting interviews, and approving offers.
• Set personal program and functional goals, conduct quarterly connections, and oversee merit adjustments for subordinates.
• Provide career development recommendations, mentoring, and discipline as necessary.
• Acquire required computers, equipment, and tools for subordinates.
• Develop training plans based on program and subordinate needs.
• Provide regular flow‑down of company and organizational status and serve as spokesperson for the Software Engineering organization.
• Lead in an engineering leadership role executing all facets of building complex software in an Agile environment (80%).
• Perform engineering activities from conceptual design to system deployment.
• Define, implement, and verify software capabilities and tools supporting novel technologies and applications.
• Collaborate with multi‑disciplined teams to define technical architectures for software‑intensive systems.
• Lead development of technical requirements and synthesize software architectures.
• Conduct architecture and design reviews.
• Participate in integration, testing, and development of documentation and briefing material.

Qualifications

• 8 years of experience with a Bachelor of Science; 6 years with Master’s (or an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
• Active US Government Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years and ability to obtain Enhanced Security Clearance.
• Experience executing software development processes.
• Experience in software development using languages such as C++, Python.
• Experience with MBSE, software design, and requirement management.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%.
• Experience leading Software Engineering teams.
• Understanding of best practices required for development of Safety‑Critical Software.
• Experience with Agile principles and methodologies.
• Familiarity with scripting languages (PERL, Python, Bash, YAML).
• Experience with source code configuration management tools (e.g., git).
• Operates independently with limited to no supervision and ability to establish solid working relationships with technical staff, peers, and customers.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Strong critical thinking and logical reasoning skills with ability to solve issues and predict potential programmatic and technical risks.

Schedule

Standard work schedule is a 9/80 (nine‑hour days Monday‑Thursday; every other Friday off).

Compensation

Primary level salary range: $139,100–$208,700. Additional compensation may include overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and long‑term incentives for eligible roles.
