Qualifications

Responsibilities

Overview

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking an Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Engineer for its Specialty Engineering team located in Roy, Utah. The role supports the Sentinel (GBSD) program and focuses on design for electromagnetic interference and electromagnetic compatibility.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to design reviews, analysis, and E3 CDRLs development within the E3 Design Support team.
  • Review and provide actionable feedback on system designs for Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
  • Develop, follow, and apply EMI/EMC principles, techniques, and concepts.
  • Provide EMI test witnessing support, develop test plans and procedures, and guide IPTs to meet MIL‑STD‑461G requirements.
  • Ensure systems and equipment meet MIL‑STD‑461, MIL‑STD‑464 and other compliance requirements.
  • Work with fellow E3 engineers to review designs and ensure acceptable implementation of EMI/EMC controls.
  • Review technical schematics, drawings, plans, and/or specifications.
  • Participate in the review of work products developed by others.
Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance (investigation date within last 6 years).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program approval.
  • 3+ years’ experience in electromagnetic interference (EMI) and/or electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) design, concepts, or testing.
  • Basic understanding of EMI/EMC concepts and controls.
  • Principal Systems Engineer (T‑03) – Minimum 5 years of related experience, bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Physics (or equivalent). 3 years with Master’s or 1 year with Ph.D.
  • Senior Principal Systems Engineer (T‑04) – Minimum 8 years of related experience, bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Physics (or equivalent). 6 years with Master’s or 4 years with Ph.D.
  • Preferred: Automated EMI test software experience (e.g., TILE), requirements and MBSE management tools proficiency, DOORS, Cameo, and/or Rhapsody familiarity.
  • Preferred: MIL‑STD‑461G testing experience or commercial equivalence.
  • Preferred: Active DoD Top‑Secret Clearance, experience with MIL‑STD‑461/464, missile program EMI/EMC design, and modeling tools such as Spice, MATLAB, ANSYS HFSS/EMA3D/Maxwell, CST.

Salary Range

Primary Level (T‑03): $98,400 – $147,600
Secondary Level (T‑04): $122,800 – $184,200
