Job summary

AppGate is seeking a Senior Sales Engineer in San Francisco to own the technical engagement with commercial prospects from the first meeting through a technical win. You will articulate AppGate ZTNA value to technical staff and executives, design architectures, and hand off to Solutions Architects for PoC/PoV.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years in cybersecurity pre-sales, deep networking, identity and PKI expertise, and a proven track record with cloud integrations and RFP leadership.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in a senior sales engineering or equivalent customer-facing technical role in cybersecurity.
• 3+ years with ZTNA, SASE, remote access VPN or network security solutions.
• Expert-level TCP/IP networking knowledge: routing, NAT, DNS, firewall policy, tunneling.
• Hands-on experience integrating identity providers (e.g., Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Ping Identity) and MFA.
• Strong PKI and encryption knowledge: X.509, mTLS, TLS, AES, RSA.
• Experience designing connectivity to AWS, Azure and GCP.
• Experience with NGFW, VPNs and NAC.
• Linux administration and scripting against RESTful APIs (Python/PowerShell/JS).
• Executive presence and strong written communication for proposals and RFPs.

Responsibilities

• Leads discovery to identify business problems and technical requirements; documents them for the account team.
• Owns the technical-win strategy with Account Executives for each opportunity.
• Designs AppGate ZTNA architectures and conducts handoffs to Solutions Architects for PoC/PoV.
• Develops integrations with identity providers, EDR, SIEM and cloud services.
• Delivers technical presentations and RFP/RFI responses for diverse audiences from engineers to CISOs.
• Mentors other SEs and creates reusable assets like demos and reference designs.
• Provides technical training and supports partner enablement with the channel SE team.
