Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking a senior storage engineer to design, implement, and optimize IBM z/OS storage environments, including IBM DS8000 DASD and TS7700 Virtual Tape platforms, with a focus on availability.

The role drives capacity planning, DR/BC testing, automation, scripting, and cross-functional collaboration to support enterprise workloads and resilience in large mainframe environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• 7+ years in IT environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, administer, and optimize IBM z/OS storage environments (DS8000 DASD, TS7700).
• Manage storage replication, BCP/DR solutions, high availability.
• Administer DFSMS technologies (SMS, DFHSM, ICF Catalogs, storage groups).
• Perform capacity planning, utilization forecasting, growth analysis, and performance tuning.
• Support GDPS-enabled recovery environments and resiliency planning.
• Develop automation, scripting, monitoring, and reporting to improve efficiency and risk management.
• Collaborate with engineering, applications, infrastructure, and operations teams to resolve storage issues and drive improvements.
