Job summary

Security Service Federal Credit Union is seeking an experienced z/Series Mainframe Administrator to diagnose and resolve complex mainframe problems, ensuring extreme availability. You will collaborate with vendors, datacenter teams, and application groups to install, configure, and maintain the mainframe environment.

You will analyze OS and product issues, present utilization trends, and drive CPU reduction opportunities with IT and enterprise teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Management, Computer Information Systems or equivalent education and/or experience.
• Minimum eight (8) years of Internet-based infrastructure and technology experience.
• Minimum of 10 years in information technology experience.
• Strong knowledge of z/OS operating system architecture, installation using SMPE, internals, and recovery scenarios.
• Networking fundamentals experience, preferably IBM medium to large system mainframes.
• Thorough knowledge in z/Series, Transaction system products.
• Strong experience with mainframe automation and monitoring tools.
• Knowledge and experience with CICS management and administration.
• Good interpersonal, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Able to read and understand complex technical documents and periodicals.
• Ability to work in a team environment, meet deadlines, and take on a high level of responsibility and accountability.
• Strong project organizational skills.
• Provide seven day a week, twenty-four hour a day support.
• Availability for periodic travel to work-site locations.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve z/Series mainframe problems to ensure high availability.
• Coordinate with vendors to resolve time-critical issues.
• Install, configure, and maintain mainframe OS, software, and hardware.
• Evaluate, analyze, diagnose, and resolve OS and product issues.
• Present utilization data and trend analysis with recommendations to developers and management.
• Work with datacenter resources to identify CPU reduction opportunities.
• Provide on-call problem management and resolution for system problems.
