Job summary

The Home Depot is seeking a Senior Staff Systems Mainframe Engineer to lead a team responsible for the reliability, performance, and security of our enterprise mainframe environment. You will install, tune, and maintain z/OS and ISV products while cross-training peers to reduce single-point failures.

You will drive automation, infrastructure as code, and strategic technology evaluations across Parallel Sysplex, scheduling, and networking.

Qualifications

• 8+ years supporting production enterprise z/OS mainframe infrastructure.
• Core z/OS systems programming: base control program, JES2/JES3, JCL, IPL.
• SMP/E for product installation and maintenance.
• z/Architecture hardware experience across z13 / z14 / z15 / z16.
• Parallel Sysplex / High Availability: Sysplex Distributor, Coupling Facility, GRS, and WLM.
• I/O configuration: HCD / HCM administration of IODF / IOCDS / IOCP.
• Workload automation & scheduling: CA-7 / CA-11, automated ops tooling (AutoOps/OPS/MVS).
• Networking: TCP/IP, VTAM, NFS, SAN (FCIP) / FICON connectivity.
• Security administration: RACF and/or ACF2, and related tooling.
• Performance, capacity & monitoring: RMF/SMF; ISV tools like OMEGAMON / MAINVIEW.
• Scripting: REXX, CLIST, system utilities.
• Modernization: zOSMF, Ansible, Python, Zowe.
• Documentation and cross-training to reduce single-point failures.
• DB2 for z/OS: administration, utilities, replication, SQL.
• Middleware: MQ Series / IBM MQ.

Responsibilities

• Leads a team to design, build, and support Home Depot's mainframe infrastructure.
• Ensures reliability, performance, and security of enterprise z/OS environment.
• Drives infrastructure as code, automation, and cross-training across teams.
• Leads evaluation and implementation of strategic technology for cost-effective solutions.
• Provides production support, root-cause analysis, and post-mortems for incidents.
• Mentors junior engineers and documents solutions for repeatable use.
