Job summary

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Prince George's County, Department of Parks and Recreation, is seeking a Senior Recreation Specialist in the Youth and Countywide Sports Division to develop, manage and oversee countywide sports leagues, classes, events and programs for youth and adults.

Qualifications

• Ability to develop and maintain league administration records such as schedules and standings.
• Strong knowledge of youth development and adult programs and activities.
• Ability to plan, organize and coordinate program assessments for leagues and tournaments.
• Ability to design and coordinate program marketing plans and outreach.
• Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records and reports.
• Ability to communicate clearly and interact with staff and the public.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and coordinates countywide sports leagues/tournaments, teams, clinics, and workshops.
• Assists with recruiting and hiring staff and volunteers, approving timecards and leave requests.
• Manages training and guidance to staff, coaches, league administrators.
• Coordinates with groups for department-sponsored programs and inventories supplies/equipment.
• Establishes operating procedures and goals for managing sports and recreation programs.
• Monitors revenues and expenditures within approved budgets.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation

2 years of recreation/sports administration experience

Equivalent combination of education and experience
