Job summary

City of Houston's Houston Public Library is seeking Senior Customer Service Clerk – Youth to deliver welcoming service at public desks and by phone, and to engage with children, teens, and families through dynamic programs. This role emphasizes outreach, relationship-building with schools and community groups, and access to library resources.

You will support youth programming, assist with collections, and participate in evening/weekend shifts, contributing to a connected, inclusive library

Qualifications

• One year of clerical or customer service experience.
• Proficient computer skills and MS Office.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service at public service desks and by phone.
• Plan, develop, and facilitate engaging library programs for children, teens, and families.
• Build and maintain partnerships with schools, childcare providers, and community organizations.
• Conduct outreach activities and represent the library at community events.
• Assist patrons in accessing library collections, online resources, databases, and technology.
• Support collection maintenance activities, including shelving and organization.
• Work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
• Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
