Job summary

FVRLibraries is seeking a Senior Public Services Librarian at Vancouver Community Library in Vancouver, WA. The role focuses on youth services, teen and young adult programs, and delivering information and programming to patrons in person, by phone, email, and chat.

Responsibilities include reference and reader’s advisory, catalog guidance, technology instruction, and building community partnerships. Leadership includes supervising staff and guiding outreach and program development.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited program or ability to obtain a Washington State Librarian certification upon hire.
• Minimum of three or more years of related work experience, including customer service experience.
• One or more years of supervisory experience or lead worker experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide general and specialized reference and reader’s advisory assistance to patrons.
• Develop, plan and implement programs for youth, prioritizing teens and new adults.
• Instruct patrons in library technology and catalog searching; assist with devices.
• Supervise staff and participate in hiring and performance reviews.
• Coordinate community outreach and build partnerships with schools and groups.
• Maintain and evaluate library collections and services; report on statistics and outcomes.
