Job summary

Howden Group Holdings is seeking a Senior Underwriter for the Transactional Risk division in North America. You will oversee underwriting of complex workers’ compensation risks, balance profitability with coverage needs, and mentor teammates to deliver strong broker relationships and high-quality submissions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in risk management, finance, business or related field required or preferred.
• CPCU, AU or similar professional designations preferred.
• 5–8 years of underwriting experience with workers’ compensation and transactional risk knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite complex workers’ compensation risks within granted authority and analyze risk exposures.
• Ensure submissions meet underwriting standards and drive profitability.
• Curate portfolios per guidelines with discretion to optimize profitability.
• Identify market risk changes and adjust pricing and terms accordingly.
• Mentor and coach junior underwriters; may supervise 1–2 staff.
• Achieve annual premium income and renewal targets; maintain broker relationships.
