Job summary

Liberty Mutual Fire Insurance Co. in Chandler, AZ is seeking a Workers' Compensation Claims Specialist to review, analyze, and process moderately complex claims within set authority.

You will evaluate liability, negotiate settlements, and support the Claims Team Manager with assigning work and mentoring teammates. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Lake Oswego, OR; and Chandler, AZ; and will be required to work onsite twice a month.

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in claims adjustment, general insurance or formal claims training.
• Required to obtain and maintain all applicable licenses.
• Continuing education courses leading to industry certifications preferred (e.g., AEI, IIA, CPCU).
• Knowledge of claims investigation techniques, medical terminology and legal aspects of claims.

Responsibilities

• Plans and conducts investigations of claims to analyze and confirm coverage and determine liability, compensability and damages.
• Determines need for independent adjusters, cause and origin experts and independent medical examiners.
• Assesses policy coverage, notifies insured of issues, establishes reserves and adjusts reserves as needed.
• Negotiates settlements within authority, coordinates litigation activities and attends trials as needed.
• Acts as senior technical professional, mentors and trains new team members.
• Participates in Quality Review processes and related committees.
