Job summary

SCI Summit Consulting, LLC in the United States seeks an experienced Senior Underwriter to lead the evaluation and underwriting of new and renewal business, ensuring alignment with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.

You will develop risk assessment models, collaborate with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to obtain necessary information and provide guidance, and document underwriting decisions in compliance with state and federal regulations. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience: Generally, a minimum of 13 years of experience in Underwriting or a related field.
• Completion of or continuing progress toward a professional designation preferred (AU, CPCU, CIC, INS, ARM) or a marketing designation.

Responsibilities

• Leads evaluation and underwriting of new and renewal business, aligning with guidelines and risk appetite.
• Develops and implements risk assessment models to inform coverage, pricing, and terms.
• Fosters partnerships with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to gather information and provide guidance.
• Procures and analyzes supplementary reports to support underwriting decisions.
• Ensures documentation of underwriting decisions and regulatory compliance.
• Evaluates complex renewals and modifications for enhancements and risk mitigation.
• Communicates underwriting strategies to internal teams, agents, and brokers.
• Monitors industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions.
• Maintains relationships with customers and coworkers to generate and retain profitable business.
• Assists in implementing strategic adjustments to underwriting practices.
