Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management and Insurance, or Finance.
• Minimum of 13 years in property and casualty claims handling.
• Professional designation such as AIC is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages a large inventory of complex claims to evaluate compensability and liability.
• Leads investigations to confirm coverage and determine liability and damages.
• Analyses and negotiates settlements and reserves within authority.
• May attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials.
• Conveys complex information regarding coverage and settlements to insureds and external partners.
• Authorizes payments within assigned authority limits.
• Maintains detailed claim files and correspondence.
• May mentor staff and participate in talent decisions for direct reports.
