Selective Insurance Company of America is seeking an experienced Senior/Trial Attorney to handle workers’ compensation cases for our Farmington, CT staff counsel team. This hybrid role requires 2 days in the office and 3 days remote.

The attorney will defend cases from start to resolution with a focus on client communication and robust trial skills. The position offers a competitive salary, benefits, and opportunity to leverage litigation expertise.

Qualifications

• 15+ years litigation experience preferred (CT WC experience 7+ years is a plus).
• 7+ years Connecticut workers' compensation experience required.
• Juris Doctor from ABA-accredited law school; CT Bar in good standing.
• Knowledge of state laws, local court policies and procedures.
• Trial experience preferred; multi-state Bar admittance preferred.
• Must have a valid state-issued driver’s license.

Responsabilités

• Represents the Insured before the assigned Court and presents witnesses and evidence.
• Analyzes complex legal issues, conducts extensive research, develops defense strategies.
• Prepares pleadings, discovery, motions and briefs in support of defense.
• Attends and handles all activities related to full trial and/or appeals as assigned.
• Provides timely communications and legal advice to clients and claims professionals.
• Assists with developing training materials and presenting seminars to the Claims Department.
• Communicates with Court, witnesses, opposing counsel and clients per office procedures.
