Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, or combination of education and experience; typically 5–10 years of claims handling.
• Must possess or obtain state adjuster licenses and continuing education credits.
• Skilled in negotiating complex claims and handling litigation and compliance matters.
• Clear verbal and written communication across a variety of situations.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage complex workflows and mentor others.
• Understanding of regulatory environment and jurisdictional requirements.
• Empathetic customer service and effective handling of escalated claims.
• Proficient with PC and standard office equipment.
• Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods.
• On-site work as needed and travel as necessary.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, changing or stressful environment.
• Home-based internet connection may be required.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage moderate to complex, high-value casualty claims with minimal supervision. Lead investigations, assess coverage, and issue documentation including reservation of rights and coverage letters.
• Identify opportunities to transfer risk and pursue subrogation. Negotiate and manage litigation and disputes to achieve favorable outcomes.
• Ensure all claims activities comply with regulatory and company standards; maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
• Set reserves, authorize payments, and make financial decisions within authority.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including legal, underwriting, vendors, and agents.
• Use analytics to identify trends and improve claims handling efficiency while protecting PII.
• Mentor junior claim handlers and contribute to training and development of best practices.
