Job summary

Berkley Industrial Comp is seeking an Associate Underwriter to support the underwriting department in renewal reviews, quoting, and retention. The role offers exposure to all facets of underwriting while working with underwriting and business engagement teams to deliver strong renewal outcomes and customer service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with concentration in criminal justice, public administration, business, nursing or insurance OR equivalent work experience.
• Experience across multiple jurisdictions preferred.
• Five (5) years’ minimum of experience adjusting workers’ compensation claims.

Responsibilities

• Manage lost time and med only workers’ compensation claims up to $250,000 exposure across jurisdictions.
• Interface with underwriting, risk management, and clients to control costs and loss ratios.
• Investigate, evaluate, and negotiate claims toward resolution with attention to medical needs and jurisdictional guidelines.
• Provide leadership within the claims department and participate in training sessions.
