Job summary

SCI Summit Consulting, LLC is seeking a senior claims professional to oversee highly complex workers’ comp claims from Maryland-based field operations. You will drive investigations, determine liability and settlements, and negotiate within authority while ensuring accurate documentation and timely payments.

The role requires extensive P&C claims experience, a relevant bachelor’s degree, and professional credentialing (AIC encouraged). This field position offers growth and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in business, risk management, insurance, or related field.
• 13+ years experience in property and casualty claims handling preferred.
• Professional designation (e.g., AIC) encouraged or pursued.

Responsibilities

• Manages a large inventory of highly complex claims and evaluates compensability/liability.
• Leads investigations to confirm coverage, liability, and damages.
• Analyzes and negotiates settlements and reserves within authority.
• May attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials.
• Communicates complex coverage and settlements to insureds and claimants.
• Authorizes payments within authority limits and ensures timely disbursement.
• Maintains detailed claim files and related correspondence and settlements.
• Mentors staff and participates in talent development decisions.
