Job summary

SCI Summit Consulting, LLC in Maryland seeks a seasoned Claims Leader to manage a large inventory of highly complex property and casualty claims. You will lead investigations, assess coverage and liability, and drive settlements within authority while ensuring timely communications with insureds and external partners.

This senior role requires 13+ years of experience in P&C claims, a strong negotiation style, and the ability to coach staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 13 years of property and casualty claims experience.
• Expertise with high-technical complexity claims and exposure to arbitration/mediation.
• Professional designation such as AIC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages a large inventory of highly complex claims to evaluate compensability/liability.
• Strategically orchestrates and leads comprehensive claims investigations to confirm coverage and to determine liability, compensability and damages.
• Analyzes and negotiates appropriate claim settlements/reserves within prescribed authority. May attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials.
• Conveys highly complex information regarding coverage and settlements to insureds, claimants, and external partners.
• Authorizes payments in accordance with assigned authority limit, ensuring timely disbursement.
• Maintains accurate and detailed claim files, including all correspondence, reports, and settlement agreements.
• May have responsibility for performance and coaching of staff and may have a participatory role in decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management for direct reports.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• This is a field position in Maryland.
