Job summary

Jonus Group is seeking a Senior Workers' Compensation Claims Adjuster in Reno, NV with deep CA indemnity claim experience to lead complex cases. You will conduct initial contacts, verify coverage, evaluate compensability, and set action plans to move claims toward resolution.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years handling CA WC indemnity claims, a SIP license (preferred or willingness to obtain within six months), and a proven ability to mentor others while working with carriers and defense counsel.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6+ years handling California Workers' Compensation Indemnity Claims.
• SIP license preferred; willingness to obtain within six months of hire.
• Stable work history with no frequent job changes.
• Experience with litigation and legal strategy.
• Prior experience working with an insurance carrier.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial contacts to gather information, verify coverage, determine compensability, and develop action plans for workers' compensation claims.
• Ensure data integrity for workers' compensation claims.
• Analyze case facts to establish accurate reserves using medical and disability knowledge.
• Collaborate with Corporate Claims to evaluate and mitigate high-exposure or catastrophic losses.
• Provide timely and professional customer service in line with best practices.
• Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Evaluate and pay benefits in compliance with statutory and company guidelines.
• File appropriate state forms as required.
• Coordinate medical treatment to ensure claims progress efficiently.
• Contain costs and manage exposure.
• Review litigation issues, direct legal strategies, and prepare cases for litigation.
• Collaborate with defense attorneys to resolve claims.
• Conduct settlement analyses and recommend settlement values.
• Regularly review caseloads and guide claims to closure.
• Mentor team members and serve as SME for legal, jurisdictional, and company needs.
