Job summary

State of Wisconsin is seeking a Worker Classification Investigator in the Unemployment Insurance Division. The role focuses on misclassification and fraud cases, locating witnesses, serving subpoenas, and coordinating with Field Auditors to ensure accurate employee vs.

independent contractor classifications. The position may be headquartered in Madison or Menomonee Falls, with remote work options for the majority of schedules.

Qualifications

• Experience conducting investigations of financial crimes.
• Experience interviewing and interrogating people as part of a criminal investigation.
• Experience developing and presenting training.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct complex worker misclassification and criminal fraud investigations.
• Locate and interview witnesses; serve subpoenas; work with Field Auditors to ensure proper classification.
• Prepare and present findings to support enforcement actions.
• Collaborate with team to ensure timely and accurate investigations and reporting.
