Job summary

McDermott Will & Schulte seeks a Senior Payroll Systems Analyst to own Workday payroll configuration and related improvements. You will configure earnings, deductions, tax rules, and payroll processes, partnering with HR, Accounting, and other stakeholders to build scalable, compliant solutions with minimal supervision.

The role emphasizes automation, data integrity, and internal controls, with opportunities to lead AI adoption in payroll and contribute to a high-performance environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Information Systems, Human Resources, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least five (5) years of payroll systems experience with demonstrated expertise in Workday Payroll configuration.
• Deep knowledge of payroll calculation logic, tax setup, and Workday system configuration.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical deliverables and drive automation.
• Strong understanding of internal controls and auditability in financial processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end configuration, maintenance, and improvement of the Workday Payroll module.
• Document payroll system configuration, business rules, and change-control procedures.
• Lead end-to-end testing and validation of payroll system changes and Workday releases.
• Resolve payroll processing errors through root-cause analysis and preventive actions.
• Prepare and deliver payroll reporting and analysis to support needs and compliance.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and automate to reduce manual effort.
