Job summary

Iowa Department of Transportation invites applications for a Work Zone Design Engineer (TE Specialist) to lead the design and application of traffic control measures for construction projects on Iowa's primary and interstate systems.

You will partner with engineers, district teams, and consulting partners to develop staging and traffic control strategies, perform field reviews, and contribute to statewide practices through task forces and committees.

Qualifications

• Must have active Iowa professional engineering licensure.
• Must possess and maintain a Class C Driver’s License.
• No immigration sponsorship required for US work.

Responsibilities

• Advise engineers and designers on solutions to non-standard and highly complex challenges.
• Advance innovation in safety analysis and construction zone traffic control methods.
• Collaborate with central/district design teams and consulting partners to ensure high-quality delivery.
