Job summary
The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking a Location Engineer (TE Specialist) to join the Location Section within the Location and Environment Bureau. The role manages projects from planning to design and requires licensure as a professional engineer and transportation/civil engineering experience in Iowa.
You will lead planning studies, oversee consultant contracts, apply transportation engineering principles, and coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies while promoting safety
Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Iowa or eligible for licensure
- Two years of full-time professional work experience in transportation or civil engineering
- PE license plus master's degree in a related field may satisfy the requirements
Responsibilities
- Preliminary Engineering and design to determine impacts of highway improvements.
- Initiate and manage consultant contracts for planning studies.
- Apply transportation engineering principles to develop concepts for safe highways.
- Utilize GIS, CADD, and other software.
- Schedule and conduct technical and public meetings.
- Coordinate with DOT bureaus and federal/state/local agencies.
- Present at internal, public, and community meetings.
