Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a Work Control Planner to independently develop, review, and coordinate comprehensive work packages for operations, maintenance, and modifications across mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiological systems.

The successful candidate will apply robust safety controls, ensure compliance with lab policies, and mentor junior planners while driving continuous improvement in planning processes.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of work hazards, safety practices, and LOTO policies.
• Ability to interpret mechanical/electrical drawings, blueprints, and technical docs for planning.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements, environmental considerations, and lab work control policies.
• Ability to research issues and propose practical solutions for planning challenges.
• Experience with computerized work management and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and coordinate work packages including materials, instructions, procedures, safety controls, and testing requirements.
• Coordinate across organizations to ensure compliance with lab requirements through final closeout.
• Provide guidance and training to lower-level planners on work control processes and standards.
• Evaluate work control processes and implement improvements for efficiency and quality.
• Manage work package priority and backlog and support permit development and documentation.
