Job summary

LIT Workshop in Portland, OR is seeking a seasoned wood fabrication professional to prepare parts for cabinetry and assembly projects per prints. You will work closely with the Wood Department Lead and Mechanical Design Team to define build direction, ensure quality, and meet tolerances.

Responsibilities include setting up and operating edge banders and table saws, reading drawings, selecting tools, training others, inspecting finished components, and maintaining safe, efficient shop practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare parts for cabinetry or other assembly projects per prints.
• Work with Wood Department Lead and Mechanical Design Team to determine build direction and process in support of client requirements.
• Established experience troubleshooting and correcting build issues to limit material waste.
• Able to understand and work from drawing packages and competently use measuring tools
• Able to select correct hand and power tools and use with good and safe practices
• Advanced understanding of joinery and attachment methods
• Assembly of sub structures
• Assembly of main assemblies both finished and unfinished (laminate and/or paint)
• Machine set up and operation of the following:
• (a) Edge bander
• (b) Table saw
• (c) Chop saw
• (d) Timesaver
• (e) Drill press
• (f) Blum Hinge Machine
• (g) Horizontal boring
• (h) Shaper
• (i) Plainer]
• Understanding of QC process and able to identify/correct any defects
• Able to fully train others in all areas of wood shop fabrication.
• Regular attendance is required
• Other duties as assigned by manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

Prepare parts for cabinetry or any other assemble project. Follow client requirements as specified and ensure all work follows prints. QC material and finished components and ensure all parts meet tolerances.

• 7+ years of established wood fabrication experience
