Job summary

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies is seeking an experienced embedded Wi‑Fi engineer to drive the Android Wi‑Fi stack, SoftAP/CarPlay integration, and network management across platforms.

You will work with silicon vendors, certifications, and cross‑functional teams to ensure robust wireless projection and global regulatory compliance, while mentoring peers and documenting designs.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of embedded software with substantial depth in Wi‑Fi.
• Strong Android Wi‑Fi stack experience or deep embedded Linux Wi‑Fi expertise.
• Strong C/C++ skills with Java/Kotlin at the Android framework layer.
• Solid Linux networking: IPv6, routing, iptables/netfilter.
• Strong 802.11 knowledge (n/ac/ax), WPA2/WPA3.
• Proven wireless debugging: OTA captures and logs across stack.
• Experience partnering with Wi‑Fi silicon/module vendors.
• Clear written communication and cross‑team leadership.

Responsibilities

• Bring up and validate Wi‑Fi on the Android platform across bench and vehicle.
• Own the connection-management logic for CarPlay/Android Auto and related specs.
• Manage IPv6, routing, and firewall rules within the Wi‑Fi subsystem.
• Design for RF realities: channel selection, DFS, and antenna sharing.
• Collaborate with silicon vendors to reproduce, analyze, and validate fixes.
• Lead Wi‑Fi Alliance certification readiness and pre-test efforts.
• Support CarPlay/Android Auto certification as SME.
• Build validation, automation, and nightly test coverage.
• Document designs and mentor engineers on the team.
