Job summary

Sony Interactive Entertainment in San Mateo, CA is seeking a Principal Wireless Protocol Architect/Engineer to own firmware architecture for wireless across accessories, collaborating with hardware, platform software, audio, and security teams.

You will mentor senior engineers toward staff and principal levels, drive protocols across SoC/ODM partnerships, and shape a scalable framework for future PlayStation products. Domestic/international travel is possible as projects demand.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical/compute engineering, CS, or equivalent.
• 15+ years in embedded firmware development with shipped products.
• Strong RF/wireless or low-latency embedded systems experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Passion for gaming, digital entertainment, and consumer electronics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead firmware architecture and design for transport, wireless protocol, and stacks.
• Develop and define communication protocols for peripheral functionality.
• Design, implement, and scale low-latency RF/wireless protocols.
• Architect modular firmware frameworks reusable across platforms.
• Mentor firmware engineers and align with partners.
• Ensure cross-platform reuse and long-term scalability.
• Troubleshoot complex hardware/firmware/RF issues.
