Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Wireless Communications Algorithm Engineer to tackle evolving problems in defense and intelligence communities. You will research new technologies, support DSP algorithm development, and translate concepts into practical technical plans for potential operational prototypes.

Ideal candidates have a strong background in electrical/communication engineering, proficiency in MATLAB/Python, and the ability to obtain interim Top

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or higher in electrical/communication related field with 7+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s with 3+ years.
  • Proficiency in communication theory and DSP, with foundational knowledge of physical/data link/MAC layers.
  • Experience in modeling and simulation of the physical layer with MATLAB, Python, or similar.
  • Familiarity with geolocation, estimation theory, or waveform design.
  • Ability to obtain Interim Top Secret clearance by start date and ultimately TS clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Research new technologies and develop solutions to address evolving threats.
  • Support digital signal processing (DSP) algorithm development.
  • Provide implementable technical solutions to the Nation's hardest problems.
  • Translate vague concepts into practical, well-defined technical plans.
  • Communicate technical results clearly in written reports and presentations.
