Job summary

Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Senior Wireless Signal Processing Engineer to advance advanced wireless research for defense and intelligence communities. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in wireless communications or DSP.
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of digital communications and signal processing.
  • Hands-on experience developing and evaluating wireless receiver or signal-analysis algorithms.
  • Experience developing technical software using Python, MATLAB, or C/C++.
  • Ability to lead, communicate clearly, and solve complex technical problems.
  • Eligibility for U.S. citizenship and Interim Top Secret clearance, with eventual TS/SCI.

Responsibilities

  • Lead R&D of signal processing solutions for wireless problems from concept to prototyping and testing.
  • Develop techniques to detect, characterize, synchronize, demodulate, decode, and analyze wireless signals.
  • Apply statistical signal processing and estimation theory to RF environments.
  • Design and develop SDR receivers, receiver algorithms, and signal analysis capabilities.
  • Create software prototypes and analysis tools in Python, MATLAB, C/C++, and test with RF data.
  • Mentor staff and communicate approaches and results to sponsors.
