Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is seeking a Windows Server Administrator to provide advanced technical support for enterprise Windows systems in a safety-conscious, evolving IT environment. This on-site role supports Active Directory, DNS, and security programs within the Computing Directorate.

The position requires DOE Q clearance or Top Secret with SCI, a strong background in Windows infrastructure, and the ability to lead complex upgrades and cyber hygiene efforts.

Qualifications

• Active DOE Q clearance (or active Top Secret clearance) with SCI access.
• Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field or equivalent experience.
• Substantial experience administering Windows Server environments (AD, DNS, Group Policy).
• Experience troubleshooting complex Windows infrastructure and enterprise services.
• Experience installing, configuring, maintaining, patching Windows servers and services.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced troubleshooting and administration for Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, authentication, and related system integrations.
• Install, configure, maintain, patch, harden, and secure Windows servers and supporting infrastructure services.
• Administer enterprise backup systems, including monitoring, failure remediation, restore operations, retention management, and recovery validation.
• Analyze complex incidents, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and document resolutions.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and utilities to automate administration, monitoring, reporting, and support processes.
• Support cybersecurity operations, including access controls, vulnerability remediation, system monitoring, and ATO preparation.
• Provide technical guidance and escalation support to Tier 1 and Tier 2 staff, and maintain SOPs and documentation.
• Participate in upgrades, migrations, DR/BC exercises, datacenter ops, and projects across networks.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Additional qualifications at 393.2 level: leadership, mentoring, complex upgrades, and root-cause investigations.
