Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) seeks a Windows Systems Administrator to deliver advanced support for enterprise Windows systems in a safety-conscious, rapidly changing environment within the ITO division of the Computing Directorate.

This full-time, on-site role requires a DOE Q or Top Secret clearance with SCI access, and involves infrastructure upgrades, cybersecurity tasks, documentation, and mentoring junior staff to ensure robust, secure operations.

Qualifications

• Active DOE Q clearance (or Top Secret) with SCI access ability.
• Bachelor's degree in a computer-related field or related experience.
• Substantial experience administering Windows Server environments and AD/DNS/Group Policy.
• Extensive troubleshooting of Windows infrastructure and enterprise services.
• Experience installing, configuring, patching Windows servers and services.
• Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced troubleshooting and administration for Windows Server and related services.
• Install, configure, maintain, patch, harden, and secure Windows servers and infrastructure.
• Administer enterprise backup systems, monitoring, restores, and retention.
• Analyze incidents, identify root causes, implement fixes, and document resolutions.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate admin tasks and reporting.
• Support cybersecurity operations, access controls, and compliance activities.
• Provide guidance and escalation support to Tier 1/2 staff and maintain SOPs.
• Participate in upgrades, migrations, disaster recovery, and data center operations.
• Lead root-cause investigations and drive corrective actions.
